The Director of International Joint Research Hub Prof Guoqiang Li led a full‑scale real‑time collapse warning test on a steel truss building fire in Yichang, Hubei, on November 1, 2023, in collaboration with the Hubei Fire Rescue Corps, Wuhan University, and other partners, successfully validating his "real‑time measurement perception – online data analysis – intelligent judgment" collapse warning system's multi‑level alerts and remaining collapse‑time predictions under actual fire conditions. Prof Li and his team deployed advanced sensing technologies—including high‑temperature tilt meters, microwave radar, and infrared UAVs—to monitor the fire exposure of a 1960s steel‑truss factory building, issuing level‑3 warnings at 10:17, 10:22, and 11:05 before collapse, thereby providing precise, actionable support for subsequent firefighting decisions and marking a critical milestone toward the system’s scalable application in real‑world engineering scenarios.
