In December 2022, invited by Prof Masatoshi Ishikawa, President of Tokyo University of Science, Prof Chao Zhang visited the Institute of Fire Science for the first time and was appointed as a Visiting Professor at the University.
In April 2023, the project ‘Creep effect on performance of high-strength steel columns subjected to post-flashover fires’ applied by Prof. Chao Zhang was awarded the ‘Key Collaborative Project on Fire Research’ by Tokyo University of Science. On 16 July 2023, Prof Chao Zhang conducted temperature rise tests on high-strength structural steel columns subjected by intumescent coatings at Tokyo University of Science.
